To be honest, I wasn’t quite sure whether to unleash the new Baby Shark video Wash Your Hands on my three-year-old. I have listened to the original about 500 times, including on repeat on the way to and from school. Sometimes, to my horror, I’ve caught myself singing the jingle in the shower or on the way to work, without my daughter anywhere near me.
But the new Baby Shark does have a great purpose, other than entertaining kids. It teaches children, in a super-cute way, how to wash their hands. And let’s face it, if your child is going to follow washing and hygiene instructions from anyone, it’s Baby Shark.
“Let’s face it, if your child is going to follow washing and hygiene instructions from anyone, it’s Baby Shark.”
The lyrics are unsurprisingly quite simple and include these lines:
Grab some soap, doo doo doo doo doo
Rub your hands, doo doo doo doo doo
Rinse your hands, doo doo doo doo doo
Dry your hands, doo doo doo doo doo
But wait, there’s more. The sharks share some other useful tips such as:
Cover your sneeze, doo doo doo doo doo
Cough into your elbow, doo doo doo doo doo
The video has, at the time of writing, more than 4.5 million views, and you can probably guess what new song is in my head at the moment!
