At last, we’re packing away our coats and boots and getting ready to slip into our sandals or Havaianas… now’s the time to make sure your feet are in tip-top shape. It’s easier than you’d think to give yourself a DIY at-home pedicure and get your feet looking and feeling sandal-ready.

Here are my tips to take you from lizard to Lamborghini…

The ultimate at-home pedicure

  1. Start by soaking and exfoliating. All you need is a tub of water with a few drops of tea tree oil. Rub your feet with a cloth and soap, and don’t forget the nooks and crannies between your toes. Exfoliation is the key part of getting your feet sandal ready.  The best tools for the job are a pumice stone, a foot scrub or exfoliating cream to help get your feet silky soft again. I love using a foot scrub (always rub on dry feet for best results) and then let them soak for a while before buffing away the dead cells. Once you wash that all away, dry your feet and gently push back your cuticles with a cuticle stick.

  2. Moisturise. Moisturise. Moisturise. We tend to focus so much on our body and hands, that we often forget our feet need the same nourishment. Fun fact: the skin on our feet is up to 10 times thicker than the rest of the skin on our body, so naturally it needs a more intensive moisturising routine. Invest in a very rich, thick foot cream to give your tootsies the care they deserve. Apply it every night after your bath or shower – if you can, pop a pair of socks on and leave them overnight so the cream can really sink in.

  3. Here’s the fun part. Now that your feet are fit to be seen in public again, it’s time to make them look pretty! Get creative and have fun trying out the newest nail polish colours. Invest in toe separators; trust me, they’re lifesavers!
