Traditional Healing

Sela Teas combine powerful traditional African herbs with delicious flavours and can assist with various illnesses. We gave the Sleep Tea with Winter Cherry and Rooibos to our teenager to assist with insomnia and she reported an excellent night’s sleep with no anxious waking! The Stress Tea also worked to calm us down when we were on deadlines and in a flap! The teas also come in mixtures if you prefer. For the full range of truly awesome tea and the stockists, visit their website and pick one! Sela Tea

Peaceful baby

Medela (we all know it’s the #1 Breast Pump brand) Baby’s dummies and pacifiers are simply the best! Designed to support natural suckling with soft silicone, they are extremely gentle on the skin with Sensopearls. Of course, you also need the Soother Holder to prevent it dropping onto the floor every three seconds! Give it a try and see how your little one enjoys it…

Check out their website and buy online at Baby City.

Ninja skills

We just discovered Total Ninja and our kids are insane for it! Obstacles, inflatable park, they have activities for all ages. Exercise and movement is excellent for kids—but even adults will enjoy it and have loads of fun! Go check it out and get rid of your excess energy and stress—it’s a great way to keep fit. They have branches in Cape Town and Jozi and do birthday parties, teambuilding etc.

Natural skincare

Local company Litchi & Titch makes the most fantastic skincare range. We tried their Overnight Vitamin C Melting Balm Mask, and it was glorious, making the face silky soft to the touch. Enriched with Bakuchiol (a natural retinol alternative), Seaberry Buckthorn and Rosehip help lighten, brighten and nourish your skin while you sleep. There’s no need to wash it off! We highly recommend all their products which are also very reasonably priced.

Madwoman by Louisa Treger

In the past, women could be incarcerated in the lunatic asylum for being depressed, widowed, having an affair, being passionate, enjoying or not enjoying sex, having painful periods and being ill among many other ridiculous reasons. Based on a true story, NY Journalist Nelly Bly, ahead of her time, gets herself put into the loony bin so she can write an expose on the horrors that go on inside the hellish place, and hopefully change things for the better. Shocking, excellent read.

Autoimmune Survival Guide by Malvina Bartmanski

People living with autoimmune conditions has increased dramatically. These conditions, sometimes very abstract, are often misdiagnosed and misunderstood. This book offers support to those who suffer from Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and the myriad of other what she believes to be “trauma driven illnesses” that impact on leading full lives. The book draws on the author’s experience in her psychology practice where she has worked with many people with mysterious health issues and offers invaluable guidance. Enlightening.
